Elections to the Sami Parliament
Elections to the Sami Parliament are held on the third Sunday in May every fourth year.
All Sami people who are registered and recorded in the electoral roll for elections to the Sami Parliament may vote.
Three authorities administer the election
The administrative tasks related to elections to the Sami Parliament are divided between the following authorities:
- The Sami Parliament’s Electoral Board
- The County Administrative Board of Norrbotten
- The Swedish Election Authority.
The Sami Parliament’s Electoral Board
The Sami Parliament’s Electoral Board is responsible for preparing the electoral roll as well as coordinating polling stations and election voting clerks.
The County Administrative Board of Norrbotten
The County Administrative Board of Norrbotten is responsible for the final counting of votes, among other tasks, and decides on potential appeals pertaining to the preliminary electoral roll.

The Swedish Election Authority
The Swedish Election Authority is responsible for coordinating the election and for voting cards, registration of groups, parties and other similar associations and their candidates, as well as printing ballot papers.
