About us

The Election Authority was established on July 1, 2001. The main duties entail preparing and coordinating general elections and national referendums, making democratic insight and civic influence possible and giving legitimacy to the elections. Elections are to be carried out with a maximum of reliability and efficiency.

The Election Authority is governed by a Board consisting of a chairman and four members. Decisions made and measures taken by the Election Authority are important parts of the electoral process. By its composition, the Election Authority's Board will guarantee a wide political and civic support.
